I’ve been very blessed to be able to breastfeed my boy. He was a champ at latching on right from the beginning and my supply so far has kept up with his demand. So the biggest expense now is diapers. I never realized how many he would go through a day, and that we would have to buy diapers weekly!
After dealing with diaper rash and blowouts…here is what we have learned about the different brands. (I know every baby is different so what works for us might now for others.)
Pampers Swaddlers: This is what they had at the hospital and what we started using when we got home. They worked amazing at the newborn and size 1 phases. When he turned 3 months and grew into size 2 the problems started. We had constant blowouts. I was doing his laundry at least twice a day. (As well as my own…)
Huggies: After talking to a ton of moms, they suggested Huggies to prevent blowouts. They did stop the blowouts! Two big other problems though. One, they stuck to his balls. ? I felt so bad everytime I changed his diapers because I would literally have to pull his balls to get them off the diaper. Two, they gave him a horrible diaper rash. So bad that he blistered and his skin peeled off! After that happened I refused to use them again. (To get rid of diaper rash, I suggest a nightly warm bath with NO soap. And each time you change the diaper, use a super thick layer of cream. So much cream that the diaper never touches the rash. I highly recommend triple paste.)
Sams brand: No diaper rash with the SAMs brand of diapers! And much cheaper then any other brand. You get about 100 more per box for the same price. But they still caused blowouts.Â
Honest Company: Finally! No diaper rash, no blowouts, and no stuck balls! The only downside is the price. By far the most expensive of all the options. But they do come in all different style prints that you can choose from. And you can have them shipped to your house on a regular basis so you never have to remember to pick them up at the store.
I know there are other brands out there and we will probably try Target brand next, so I’ll update the post to let y’all know if I find anything better out there!
