There’s nothing more awkward then going to a restaurant and getting looks from people about your kids behavior. It’s stressful enough being a parent, but going out to eat so you don’t have to cook shouldn’t be stressful. So here’s a list of some places in Austin that are family friendly. All these have gated playgrounds where you kids can run and play so you can actually sit and eat (and drink.)

Waterloo Ice House: All day breakfast menu, variety of foods, and drink specials. There’s multiple locations throughout Austin.

The playground at the South Park Meadows Location.

Hat Creek: Great burgers and sweet potato fries. (They do sell beer and wine as well.) The playground is right next to tables to sit and eat so it makes it easy to watch your kids. Multiple locations throughout Austin, Dripping Springs and Buda.

Flores Mexican Restaurant: Good Mexican food and drinks. Four different locations, including in Lakeway, South Austin and Dripping Springs.

Mandola’s Italian Kitchen: Delicious Italian food, and the kids meal comes with a serving of gelato. Four different locations in Austin, but the South Austin location is the only one I know of that has a playground.

Doc’s Backyard: Great variety on the menu. Located in South Austin in Sunset Valley.

Graceland Grocery Barbecue: Great BBQ. Usually has live music too. They have 3 different playscapes, and tons of room for kids to run around. They usually hold events for Holiday’s as well, like a Halloween and Easter party. Located near the Austin Zoo.

Austin Pizza Garden: One of the best pizza spots in Austin. Located in South Austin.
