It seems so strange that during a time like this, it would seem “necessary” to be buying things. But to me, it’s less about buying stuff, and more about trying to still make this time of year special for your kids and have sort of normalcy in their lives. Easter is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus. I think now more then ever we need to remember that love and hold onto hope. So even if you can only afford something small this year, I don’t think size matters to a child. They’ll just be happy that they weren’t “forgotten” by the Easter Bunny. Luckily, we were able to order everything online, or use Target Drive-Up to get everything so we didn’t even have to go in a store! (The links provided are what we ended up getting for our kids, you can also find more ideas in my Amazon store under “Easter Basket Ideas”.)
Easter Basket Ideas for Babies:
- Teethers
- Board Books
- Clothes
- Bows & Socks
- New Swim Suit
- Toys
Easter Basket Ideas for Toddlers/Preschoolers: (I tend to try to make baskets for this age group themed by their favorite character, rather then actual Easter themed. That way they can wear the clothes/play with the toys all year rather then just at Easter time. For example, last year’s basket was Toy Story themed, this year it will be Spiderman/Batman themed.)
- Candy
- Books
- Clothes
- Toys/Legos
- Puzzles
- Mystery/Blind Bags and Eggs
- New Swim Suit
- Bubbles
- Chalk
- Water Balloons
- Piggy Bank (We are planning to do a “Coin Hunt” with just Braxton to start him saving for money, then we will also be using coins as behaviors rewards. This will help teach Braxton the value of saving, math, and reward good behavior. We will let him use his money to buy whatever he wants.)
Another idea if you have a large family and can’t, or don’t want to do individual gifts is to have the Easter Bunny bring a Family Gift. Something you can all enjoy together. (Since your all stuck inside together anyways!)
- Movie Night (“Trolls World Tour” comes out to rent on April 10th, which is perfect timing for this. You could get a Trolls Easter Basket and fill it with Trolls fruit snacks, Trolls Oreos, Popcorn, etc.)
- Board Game (This could also go along with the idea above, Trolls themed!)
- A Family Pool (You could go the step further and get new beach towels for each family member, or pool toys.)
If you are able (and have time), consider supporting small businesses too during this time by purchasing something off Etsy or Instagram Shops. This too shall pass, but for now, stay safe and stay home! Easter TV Shows and Movies Post coming next for ya’ll to have something to watch while you are homebound.
