So a lot of people ask what I do all day while I’m not working…Which is funny to me, because I realize now how under appreciated Stay-At-Home moms are. It FEELS like a job. And unlike a job, there is no lunch break and no end time. Here’s a brief peek into our day.

8:00am: This is around the time Braxton wakes up. Of course it varies from day to day.

8:00-9:00: Braxton plays by himself in his indoor swing in our living room. I usually let him watch his shows during this time as well. (Mickey Mouse Playhouse is his favorite.) I get all the dishes done from the previous day during this time.image

9:00am: Diaper change and feeding.*

9:00-10:00: Nap time for Braxton. Hustle time for mom. I either use this time to do laundry, or clean the bathrooms/floors. I also get a short workout done.

10:00am: Diaper change.

10:00-12:00: I use this time to play with Braxton. I know he won’t always want to play with his momma, and I’ll have to work sometimes so I take full advantage of the times we get to do this. Plus I work on tummy time with him to strengthen his muscles and mimicking to work on his language skills.image

12:00pm: Diaper change and feeding.*

12:00-1:00: Nap time for Braxton. This is when I eat lunch, and get work done. Check e-mail, work on the computer, do some more household cleaning. This is also the only time I can cut his nails!image

1:00pm: Diaper change.

1:00-3:00: More playtime.image

3:00pm: Diaper change and feeding.*

3:00-4:00: Nap time for Braxton. This is his last long nap of the day. I try to keep him awake the rest of the day but that doesn’t always happen. I get my second work out done during this time and finish up any housework I didn’t get done before.

4:00pm: Diaper change.

4:00-5:00: His daddy comes home from work! We hang out with daddy and hear about his day.

5:00-6:00: This is when I get to take a shower and have a tiny break for myself. Braxton hangs out his dad. After my shower I get dinner ready.

6:00-7:00: Blair and I take turns eating dinner since Braxton will want to be held until he goes to bed. We watch our shows during this time.

7:00-8:00: Dinner time for Braxton! I switch between rice cereal and oatmeal right now. I mix it with breast milk. Next month he’ll start getting veggie purees too!image

8:00-9:00: Bath time for Braxton! After his bath he gets a fresh nighttime diaper and we put him in pj’s. I nurse him and we try to get him down in his crib.image

9:00-10:00: Braxton has been having a hard time going to bed at night. So usually during this time I’m trying to get him to go to sleep. Lots of walking around the house and comfort feeding.

3:00am: If we are lucky this is the first time Braxton wakes up at night. Diaper change and feeding, then back to bed for him.

5:30am: Second time waking up for Braxton. Diaper change and feeding then back to bed for Brax. After he falls back asleep, I’ll go make Blair’s lunch and then go back to bed.

And then it starts all over again! I would love to start taking him out places during his play time but right now I’m facing a couple of problems.

  1. He hates his car seat right now. So anytime he’s in the car he’ll scream the whole time. Not very fun.
  2. He refuses to take a bottle. So if we stay out too long, he’ll get hungry and I can’t feed him since he doesn’t want a bottle. (I’m not comfortable breastfeeding in public so I’m working on his taking a bottle instead.)
  3. It’s way too hot outside to just go on a walk. Hopefully by October it’ll be nice enough out to go to the park and play.

So that’s a day in the life of Brax and me! I’m sure his schedule will change as he gets older, and mine will change as I have to work sometimes. I’m enjoying the time we get to spend together right now and look forward to seeing how he changes and grows!image

*These are his long feeding times. He “snacks” during the day as well. He also comfort eats when he is upset. This is also when I do regular diaper checks. I also change his diaper throughout the day if I hear him poop.
