Tomorrow is Braxton’s half birthday! I can’t believe how fast the past 6 months have gone. I want time to slow down so I can enjoy more time with my baby, but at the same time I love seeing him learn new things and grow! It’s definitely bittersweet.

So it’s time for another postpartum update as well as baby update.

Tomorrow marks me being 6 months postpartum, and I have to admit I’ve fallen behind a little bit this past month. With the Holiday’s coming (I’ve already eaten way too much Halloween candy) and being busy visiting with friends and some family stuff going on, I haven’t been working out as much as I’d like and my eating has gotten off track a bit. I haven’t gained any weight, but I also haven’t gotten as much muscle as I’d like. But that’s ok since my goal is still the 9 month mark. With the weather getting cooler, I decided to try on my pre-pregnancy size 0 jeans. To my delight they actually fit great! (I tried on my pre-pregnancy skinny jeans too. Not a surprise that they kinda fit but are super super tight. Considering they were tight to begin with, I wasn’t too disappointed.)

(5 months pregnant vs. 6 months postpartum. Notice all the Christmas cookies in the background of the pregnant photo…sweet tooth weakness. And baby abs forming on the postpartum photo!)

My goal is still working on my butt and arms so here is my current workout:

  • 30 Lunges
  • 20 Single Leg Deadlifts
  • 20 Squats
  • 30 Donkey Kicks
  • 15 Glute Bridges
  • 15 Push-Ups
  • 30 Sec Plank
  • 15 Hand-to-Elbow

Repeat 3 times

I’ve also tried to meal plan more. This not only keeps my family healthy, but also keeps us more on budget. Here’s this week’s weekly dinner plan:

  • Monday: Salmon with Brown Rice and Steamed Broccoli.
  • Tuesday: Chicken with Penne Pasta Salad.
  • Wednesday: Ground Turkey Lettuce Wraps.
  • Thursday: Baked Tuna with Baked Sweet Potatoes.
  • Friday: We always “treat” ourselves one day a week. Usually on Friday’s we have our date night (with baby in tow though) and try out a new spot for happy hour and appetizers.
  • Saturday: Leftovers
  • Sunday: Baked Chicken with Brown Rice and Steamed Asparagus.

Braxton’s 6 Month Update:

We already bought his 6 month birthday present. He is obsessed with our TV remote so we found a toy remote from Leap Frog and we are excited to give it to him tomorrow!

This past month we also bought him a Mickey Mouse Walker and he is doing so good in it! At first he could only walk backwards, but now he can walk forwards as well.

(He loves his Mickey Mouse Walker and cruising around!)

He had his first trip to our friend’s ranch and he had a great time! They have a 13 month old boy as well so he had a friend to play with. I was worried he wouldn’t sleep well out there, but he did much better then expected.

Braxton’s reflux has been acting up, and I’ve had to eliminate coffee and any milk product from my diet in order to help keep it under control. We also have him back in the rock n play at night to sleep because he was chocking on his throw up at night when he slept flat in his crib. It made my anxiety so much worse to have to worry about if he spit up in his bed at night and I didn’t hear it happen.

He still hates pacifiers and we are still working on him taking a bottle. Not sure if he will ever like bottles and may have to go straight to a sippy cup. He is currently having purees every night for dinner and starting to have a little for lunch as well! His favorite is sweet potatoes just like his momma and daddy.

(I love all his pictures from our first visit to the Ranch. He is such a happy baby.)

This past week he has started teething! We can see the middle two bottom teeth start to pop up. If anyone has any advice for helping them for the pain please let us know! Our poor boy is in so much pain and right now all we use is the cold teething rings and breastmilk popsicles. I don’t feel comfortable using teething tablets or any gels since they are now shown to cause problems.

I can’t wait to see what this next month has in store for both of us and his first Halloween and Thanksgiving will be here soon! I’ll post his official 6 month picture tomorrow on my Instagram. (@v.holcombe)
