Happy Halloween from our little family to yours!
It’s amazing how much can change in one year. Here’s a glimpse into our Halloween last year, and our Halloween this year.
One year ago…
On Friday October 30, 2015 it was pouring rain and flooding in Austin, TX. I went to work that morning, but a lot of teachers and students couldn’t make it into work due to the flooding. Because of this, and the tornado warning, we didn’t have a “traditional” day of teaching. Instead, we watched movies all day and most parents came to pick up their kids early. It was still flooded when I got off work around 4:30, and Blair and I had plans to drive to College Station for the night to see the Texas A&M football game on Saturday. The normal 2 hour drive to College Station ended up taking over 5 hours because most roads out of Austin were flooded. I was tired from work, and about 15 weeks pregnant so I wasn’t really wanting to sit in the car for that long. I complained most of the way there and kept asking to just turn around and go home. Blair was very adamant that we go, so I finally just fell asleep while he drove. We finally got there and just checked into the hotel and went to bed.
(With our friends before the game started at Kyle Field.)
Luckily Saturday October 31, 2015 in College Station turned out to be a great weather day for football! We checked out some tent sales before heading over to the Stadium to meet up with some friends. The game was a lot of fun, and the Aggies got a great win. We ran into some more friends walking around the Stadium, and Blair said he wanted to take pictures down by the field after the game. When we got down to the field, our friends took pictures of us while Blair surprised me with a proposal! Of course I said yes, and I love that he decided to propose at my favorite place in the world. It was a very memorable Halloween, and I love that it’s our last memory of Halloween pre-kids.

This year’s Halloween…
Since this is Braxton’s first Halloween, we celebrated all weekend leading up to the big event! We decided to spend a day with each of our families so that they could see our little guy, and then spend the actual day as just the three of us.

On Saturday October 29, 2016 we met up with my parents and went to a family Halloween event at a restaurant/park. It was a lot of fun, and Braxton got to go down his first big slide with his daddy.
On Sunday October 30, 2016 we met up with Blair’s mom and brother, Barrett. We went trunk or treating at a local Church. Braxton loves getting outside and seeing other babies. It was pretty hot outside so he didn’t get to wear his costume very long, but we had a back up costume for him! He was a soccer player like his daddy.
(Blair and Braxton matched as Celtic Soccer Players!)
Today, Monday October 31, 2016 we will go trick or treating for the first time ever as a family! I can’t wait to start this new tradition with my little family. We’ll also get to meet up with some friends who also have a little boy. Braxton will be an Ewok, and I have to say, he’s the cutest little Ewok I have ever seen!
(Can’t wait to take our little Ewok trick or treating!)
I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween! I feel like this really kicks off the Holiday Season, and I’m already looking forward to Braxton’s first Thanksgiving and Christmas!
(For anyone wondering…his costume is actually a bear costume. They don’t make baby Ewok outfits. We bought the bear costume on Amazon, and bought a brown shirt from Wal-mart and cut it up for the cover. Blair made the “spear” from a paper towel holder and black tape!)
Also, stay tuned for the next post for a link to vote for Braxton in the Gerber Baby Contest!
