Father’s Day is a day to honor all the father figures in your life. For me, that means my own dad and my husband. Both of whom are shinning examples of what it means to be a father.
(Happy Father’s Day to two amazing “new” daddy’s. These two guys are both celebrating only their 2nd Father’s Day, but they are both pros already. These little fishies are so lucky to have them.)
Until I became a parent, I never fully understood how amazing my own dad was. I knew I had a great childhood, but I didn’t know all the hardwork he did to make that happen. He spent countless hours putting together furniture, toys, sports equipment and more. He worked late hours to provide for his family. He suffered through tons of happy meals to get us the full collections of happy meals toys we wanted. He taught us how to ride a bike, to shoot a gun, and drive a car. He went to every lacrosse game and not only did he go to every swim meet, but he volunteered to time at every swim meet. He was calm and understanding. I can’t ever thank him enough for everything he has done for us. My son loves him as much as I do, and I love seeing them together. Lots of people say that Baby B looks just like his grandpa. He has his grandpa’s hair and fair skin for sure!
(My love for my dad has only grown since watching him be a grandpa to my son. They adore each other and I appreciate the patience and love that my dad has shown for my little guy. Photos by Thomas Chen Photography.)
I was also blessed to not only have a great dad, but a great husband who has become a great dad as well. It makes my heart happy to know that my son will grow up with a role model he can look up to. I’ve been lucky to find a man who puts his family first. He works hard to provide for his family. And no matter how tired he is from work, he always comes straight home and plays with his son as long as he can before it’s bedtime. He sacrifices so that his son can have the best, and hates anytime he has to be away from him. I love watching Brax grow, because the older he gets, the more he tries to be like his daddy. He copies everything he does, and he is already learning how to dribble a soccer ball from his daddy!
(This guy might sometimes act more like a kid then an adult, but that’s ok with me. I love that he wants to do everything with his son. Including playing in a tiny pool.)
(This little cub had such a great time this weekend! He got to spend everyday playing in the water, which is his favorite thing right now.)
I hope everyone had a great weekend celebrating the dads, grandads, dads-to-be, step-in dads, and every other type of dads in your life. We loved our weekend and spent most of it playing in the water and sun! We got to swim with friends, grill at grandpa’s house, and put together a mini “water park” in our backyard. We set up our Paw Patrol Water Table, our mini baby pool, and our new Splashpad outside. It was a perfect weekend that I didn’t want to end. I see lots of fun in the sun in our future, especially with how hot the summer is already getting. It’s a world of difference from last summer, when we had to hide inside with a newborn!
(New best friends. He loves when his Aunt and Uncle visit, not only because he loves and adores them, but because it means he gets to play with their puppy too!)
Happy Father’s Day everyone! 4th of July is coming up soon and I can’t wait until another long weekend of fun with the family!
(Just because he’s a dad now, doesn’t mean he has to have a dad bod. #fitdad)
