Last year at Christmas time we went to The Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Tx for a friend’s 1st birthday. It was our first time going to the resort and it felt like stepping into a winter wonderland! If your looking for a fun place to go during the cold months, I’d highly suggest checking this place out!

The Gaylord Texan is located in Grapevine, Texas not far from the Dallas/Fort Worth area. It is also down the street from Greatwolf Lodge, which is known for their indoor waterpark. With the two resorts being so close, you could potentially make a big weekend of it and go to one each night! (Or get a day pass for one of the resorts and just stay at the other.)

From mid November to early January, the resort is transformed into a Christmas dream! Each year also has a different theme, which is fun for those who want to make it an annual tradition. (Last year the theme was Rudolf, this year it’s A Charlie Brown Christmas!) One of the biggest attractions includes an ICE exhibit. It has 2 million pounds of colorful ice, hand carved sculptures in 9 degree temperature and 6 two story slides made of ice as well! (There is an Ice Bar inside that you can buy additional tickets for.) They do give you heavy jackets to wear inside, but I’d highly suggest wearing winter clothes and gloves.

Inside the exhibit. Braxton was so excited to go, but I forgot gloves for him and he was pretty upset because his hands were so cold he couldn’t even move them.

Other attractions include Ice Skating, Story time with Mrs. Clause, snow tubing, gingerbread decorating, breakfast with the characters, a carousel, meeting Santa and more! Braxton loved all the train tracks around the resort and all the beautiful decorations. There is so much to do, and the resort also has 10 restaurants to choose from so you don’t even need to leave.

As with most resorts, book as far in advance as you can to get the best prices. You can also ask about special packages when you book to get a discount on stuff like ICE tickets. (Keep in mind, each activity inside the resort is a separate cost, there are some free activities though.) Parking is also an additional fee, but if you spend more then a certain amount at a restaurant inside, you can have the parking fee waived.

Braxton was 2.5 years old when we went and had the time of his life. Us parents had a great time too so I’d say it’s fun for any age! The resort was so clean, magical and worthwhile! We definitely will be going back again. If you have another questions about our stay, leave me a comment on here or my Instagram!
