Life for all of us changed overnight. What we sometimes forget about is how different the world must seem to our little ones. They no longer get to be carefree at the park, see their friends and grandparents, and go shopping for groceries. Their life is suddenly about constant hand washes, masks, and staying home. We’re all trying to find a new normal and keep our sanity. Here’s a quick look at how our days look now, along with some 9 month updates! (Blair is required to work from home now, so our daily routine now includes him.)

  • 6:00-6:30am: Blair usually wakes up early out of habit.
  • 7:00-7:30am: Kaley usually wakes up around this time, Blair gets her and feeds her breakfast.
  • 7:30am: I usually wake up hearing Kaley whining about Blair taking too long to get her breakfast, so I take over and Blair “leaves” for work. AKA he leaves the kitchen and goes to the makeshift office in our bedroom.
  • 8:00am: Braxton usually wakes up around this time hearing all of us making a commotion.
  • 8:30am: Kaley goes down for her first nap and I “get ready” for day. AKA change out of nighttime pj’s into nicer loungewear and brush my teeth.
  • 9:00-10:30am: Try to entertain Braxton so he leaves Blair alone to work.
  • 10:30am: Kaley wakes up and I attempt to keep both kids away from Blair while making lunch for all 4 of us.
  • 11:00am-12:00pm: Lunch time. Blair takes a break around this time to help feed Kaley.
  • 12:00-1:00pm: Clean up the kitchen and hope both kids will play in the playroom while I speed clean whatever I can.
  • 1:00pm: Kaley goes down for her second nap.
  • 1:00-3:30pm: Braxton helps me clean or we go in the backyard to get a change of scenery.
  • 3:30pm: Kaley wakes up and joins us outside for snacktime.
  • 3:30-5:00pm: Probably the hardest part of the day. Braxton is getting antsy to play with Blair, Kaley is getting fussy for dinner, and I’m trying to start cooking while keeping everyone quiet during Blair’s last few calls of the day.
  • 5:00pm: Blair gets “home” and we usually go for a walk to check the mail and go around the neighborhood.
  • 5:30-6:30pm: I finish cooking while Blair feeds Kaley. We all eat dinner then.
  • 6:30-7:00pm: Blair bathes both kids while I clean the dishes.
  • 7:00-7:30pm: Blair spends time with Kaley before her bedtime.
  • 7:30pm: Kaley goes to sleep for the night.
  • 7:30-9:00pm: We watch a movie or shows.
  • 9:00pm: Blair and Braxton go to bed. I stay up and get writing and other work done.
  • 11:30pm: I go to bed.

We miss our daily outings, but we do try to FaceTime family and friends whenever we get lonely. Kaley just turned 9 months old and had her first Easter. She has 5 teeth now, but still has yet to crawl. She does push herself up from laying to sitting now, and butt scoots to get around. We opted to do her well check visit over the phone instead of taking her in, so I’m not sure about her height or weight, but she is growing like a weed!

Stay safe everyone and I hope you all are finding ways to keep laughing.
